Summary and critique of Stanley Milgram Free Essays.
The experiment involved what Milgram called the learner, the teacher and the experimenter who authorized the course and duration of the study. The learner is the person who actually was employed to help the experiment (assumingly with the consent and guidance of Milgram).

Many of these well known experiments include the Asch Conformity Experiment and the Milgram Experiment. One of the most controversial is the Stanford Prison Experiment. This experiment was put together by Stanford professor Philip Zimbardo who conducted this experiment in 1971. This is the most well known experiment that Zimbardo has ever done.
Stanley Milgram’s article, “The Perils of Obedience” focuses on the experiment he created to test society’s willingness to obey. In the experiment Milgram has one person who is a learner and another who delivers the shocks, the teacher.
Was Milgram Ethical in his Obedience Studies? When trying to determine weather or not Stanley Milgram’s experiment on obedience vs. destructive obedience is ethical you need to know two things: One, determine a set of ethical means that Milgram must follow, in this case they were already laid out.
Milgram (1963) claimed that destructive obedience is not a consequence of moral weakness or an evil character; rather it is a response to a particular set of situational factors. Evaluate this statement. In order to evaluate this statement it is important to first understand what Milgram meant. This essay will first consider what is meant by destructive obedience and briefly look at Milgram.
Zimbardo’s experiment started in August, and was meant to test the psychological effects of prisoners, and guards. Both experiments dealing with authority but differ in what they were trying to prove, even though the results of Zimbardo’s test in some ways proved Milgram’s experiment true.
